Johan studied agriculture at the University of the Free State and graduated with a BSc Agric Honours degree. Later, he received his MBA degree from Stellenbosch University.

Johan has worked as an agricultural economist, and in various executive positions at an agricultural business. He was also the managing director of a fruit packing, cooling, and export company. In 2005 he started his own business, focusing on management coaching in organisations, as well as fatigue management training in companies with employees that work shifts and long hours.

He started Johan Wepener Debt Counsellors in 2007. He has, since then, always been the sole proprietor and only debt counsellor.

Johan has helped many consumers through debt review to regain financial stability and return to the community as proud, financially responsible citizens.

Dale Garthwaite has been working with Johan since 2014 and has become an invaluable asset to the business. Andre Misrole has been working with Johan since 2018, taking on a marketing role and referring clients to Johan for debt counselling services.

Andre Misrole was born and bred in Cape Town, went to school in Somerset West and always had a passion for business. After matric he worked for Woolworths, one of Africa’s biggest retailers, where he became one of the youngest department managers at the time. This is where he learnt world-class customer service and fell in love with it.

Andre is also passionate about finance and financial independence, and in 2013 he resigned from Woolworths to become a professional trader. He lost all his money after six months and decided to give trading a break to focus on starting a business where he could help people.

After doing extensive research, he came across debt counselling, as his mother was a debt collector. But he didn’t like the fact that he had to go and repossess people’s assets at their homes. He personally experienced this with his family having lost everything. Therefore, he opted to pave his way by helping people prevent all those nasty events, through debt counselling, instead.

He received his debt counselling certification in 2014. However, it was only in 2018 that he came across Johan Wepener, who helped one of his friends become debt free and financially independent again. Andre then reached out and set up a meeting with Johan and the rest is history.

Andre and Johan have been working together for seven years, share a great understanding and work extremely well together.
